Leadership Opportunities

In the youth department we are always looking for people who are willing to help.  There are so many opportunities to serve!  In all these tasks you would be working with the youth director and other team members to best carry out your task.

Hands On Team - This team actually works with the students on a regular basis.

Sunday Night UMYF Teacher/Support for teacher
Teach lessons on Sunday nights during UMYF for Jr. or Sr. High students or support the teacher that night by being at the meeting and helping with whatever is needed.

Time commitment: 3 hours each week

Wednesday Night Disciple Teacher/Small Group Teacher
Teach lessons on Wednesday night with another adult to Jr. or Sr. High students or to a small group of students.

Time commitment: 2 hours each week

Sunday School Teacher
Teach Sunday School for Jr. or Sr. High students at 10:00 a.m.

Time commitment: 1 hour a week for the month that you teach.

Drama Team Coordinator
Coordinate and lead students in skits and other performing arts.

Time commitment: 1.5 hours each week

Chaperone
Attend youth trips throughout the year as a chaperone to help watch the students.

Time commitment: One week or weekend of the year.

Snack Supper Team Member
On Sunday nights help prepare and serve the snack supper for the youth.

Time commitment: 1.5-3 hours each month

Drivers
Drive students to special events throughout the year.

Time commitment: varies depending on the event

Game Leader/Player
Come on Sunday afternoon and play games with the youth.

Time commitment: 1.5-2 hours each week
Administrative Team
This team helps with the administrative tasks within the group. They do not work one on one with the students as a general rule.

Writing/Creating youth newsletter
Once a month, write a short newsletter to be mailed to all students to discuss upcoming events and activities.

Time commitment: 3 hours each month

Filing
Come in and file paperwork once a month.

Time commitment: 1-2 hours each week

Fundraising
Coordinate fundraisers and count items as they come in.

Time commitment: varies depending on fundraiser; we do 3-4 each year.

Office Tasks
Help with day to day office tasks such as sending, mailing, copying items, collating, making phone calls, etc.

Time commitment: 1-2 hours a month or less
Special Events Team
This team of people will help coordinate and carry out special events throughout the year for our youth group

Event Planning
Help plan events throughout the year. This could include making resevbations, getting speakers, coordinating volunteers, gathering food, gathering supplies, etc.

Time commitment: varies depending on event

Host
Open your home to host special events such as Super Bowl and Christmas parties.

Time commitment: varies

Workday Workers
Come on a day to help gather materials and then put them away befor and after events.

Time commitment: varies

Discovery Worker
Work at our Discovery Weekend held every other year in the spring. We need people to lead tables, work with food, coordinate volunteers, plan games, do registration, work on worship, etc.

Time commitment: 5-10 hours plus the weekend every other year

Special Lesson Events
At times we have special lessons for the youth such as the "Human Sexuality" weekend for our Jr. High. We need people who would help plan and carry out these events.

Time commitment: varies depending on the event

Artist/Creative Mind
We like to spruce up the youth room at times and would like someone with a creative mind and some artistic skills to help with this.

Time commitment: varies

Carpenter/Handyman Skills
Help to build and repair different things around the youth department and for the youth department.

Time commitment: varies depending on the project
